Alireza Ghoreifi, MD

Assistant Professor of Clinical Urology

Alireza Ghoreifi, MD, is a urologic oncologist and Assistant Professor of Clinical Urology at the University of California, Irvine (UCI). He specializes in the surgical management of genitourinary malignancies. His clinical interests include bladder, kidney, upper tract urothelial, prostate, and testicular cancers, with expertise in both open and robotic surgery.

Dr. Ghoreifi completed his urology residency at Mashhad University of Medical Sciences in Iran, where he also served as an Assistant Professor of Urology for four years. He subsequently completed advanced research training in urologic oncology at the University of Southern California (USC) Institute of Urology, followed by a Society of Urologic Oncology (SUO) fellowship at Duke University. He joined the UCI Department of Urology in September 2026.

Dr. Ghoreifi’s research focuses on improving the diagnosis, treatment, and outcomes of patients with urologic cancers. His work encompasses clinical trials, multicenter collaborative studies, biomarker development, and surgical innovation, with particular interests in bladder cancer, upper tract urothelial carcinoma, testicular cancer, and advanced renal cell carcinoma. He has authored more than 145 peer-reviewed publications and has presented his research at numerous national and international scientific meetings.

His research has been recognized with several prestigious awards, including the Urology Care Foundation Research Scholar Award, the American Urological Association (AUA) Best Poster Award, and the Western Section of the AUA Grand Prize Award. He also serves as a reviewer for several leading urologic journals and actively participates in national and international collaborative research initiatives.
